Informit Health to replace Meditext


Informit Health Collection is now available on our database trials page. The Informit Health Collection will deliver instant cover-to-cover access to core allied health information from the Australasian region. Many of the peer reviewed journal titles it includes are uniquely available through Informit, offering new perspectives of benefit to allied health professionals and students. As with other Informit databases, the Collection also provides access to grey literature such as conference proceedings and reports that are often difficult to locate. Informit Health Collection will replace Meditext on 1 January 2010.

New dentistry & oral health database

Dentistry & Oral Sciences Source™ is a new database which indexes dentistry and oral sciences journals commonly purchased by dental schools and other related institutions. It also includes a collection of important full-text journals including many of the top ranked titles in the discipline, as well as dozens of e-books.

The Library has organized a 60 days trial of this database. Click here for more information and to access Dentistry & Oral Sciences Source. The trial will end in early October.

New EBP clinical & educational resource

The Library has organized a trial of JAMAevidence, a learning tool which provides students, educators and clinicians with the tools required for understanding and applying evidence, and making clinical decisions based on evidence. To access this resource please go to Databases on trial and scroll down to JAMAevidence. Unikey required for off-campus login.

Please try it out and let us know what you think using the Database Evaluation Form. Your comments are vital to the overall evaluation process and will have an important influence on whether the Library will subscribe to this resource.

The trial is running until the 10th August 2009.

New E-book Trial

The Library has the following resource currently on trial:


Thieme E-book Library - Trial ends 1st of August,2008

Over 42 highly popular illustrated FlexiBooks and textbooks available to students and lecturers for their learning and research in basic science and clinical rotations. These ebooks focus on Anatomy, Basic Sciences, Clinical Sciences and the Radiology curriculum.

The E-book Library includes a number of dental titles, including:

New Database Trials

The Library has the following resource currently on trial:

Dynamed - Trial ends on the 5th of August, 2007.

DynaMed is a clinical reference tool created by physicians for physicians and other health care professionals for use primarily at the 'point-of-care'. It includes clinically-organized summaries for nearly 2,000 topics, and it does include dental content. For example, Select Browse by Category then Oral Pathology. Click on Impacted Tooth and you can view information on the causes and risk factors, diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment, plus more. The product is evidence-based, and all topics include references, reviews, and some include links to clinical guidelines.

The Dynamed trial can be accessed via the Database Trials page.

New Database Trial

We have trial access to 500 eBooks on ScienceDirect until 18 June 2007.

The books cover a range of topics including Biology, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Earth and Planetary Sciences, Engineering, Immunology, Materials Science, Mathematics, Medicine, Neuroscience, Physics and Psychology.

The ebooks are included with our existing books and journals on ScienceDirect and can be accessed usinng the Browse button from the menu bar at the top of the ScienceDirect home screen or by a Journal/book title search. Journals can be deselected from the title search, so that only books are displayed.

Access is from the database trials page. All books are available from off campus.
