Dentistry research & coursework theses

The Faculty of Dentistry has digitised 738 theses once stored on the 7th floor of the Sydney Dental Hospital. These will be progressively loaded onto the Sydney eScholarship Repository. Currently there are 273 coursework and 24 research theses in the Dentistry repository. Newly submitted cousework theses will be added simultaneously.

The Faculty is currently considering a proposal to revise the Resolutions for some of its postgraduate degrees so candidates will only submit electronic versions of their final approved theses. This will not affect the current requirement for hard copies of research theses which are kept in Fisher Library's Rare Books & Special Collections.

Demystifying Copyright

There are many myths about copyright and this session aims to demystify some of these by giving you practical, up-to-date information about the major copyright issues. You will learn how you to maximise your use of copyright material without infringing the rights of others.

Topics will include:

· Overview of copyright essentials

· University policies and procedures

· Using film, video, TV programs and other media

· Impact of technology on copyright

Target Audience

New staff involved in teaching or research, staff who have a role in creating websites and learning resources and anyone who is confused about copyright and wants to improve their awareness of the issues.

MedEdPORTAL Launches Version 2.0 Web Site & Repository

This resource promotes educational collaboration by facilitating the open exchange of peer-reviewed teaching resources such as tutorials, virtual patients, cases, teaching materials, etc. While the new MedEdPORTAL website may look familiar, the back-end of the system has undergone dramatic improvements. The Web site is now fully integrated with a powerful content and digital asset management system to host resources online. Through major enhancements, the new MedEdPORTAL site provides you with the ease of downloading resources directly from the Web site; allowing 90 percent of MedEdPORTAL’s 1,300 publications to be available for download or by directly linking to external Web sites. Copyright issues are addressed during the submission process so users can download these resources without legal infringements. The remaining 10 percent of publications will continue to be disseminated by MedEdPORTAL staff due to size limitations or because those publications are assessment tools in which authors have requested protection through a human firewall.
